How far along are you? 22 Weeks Pregnant! By the pregnancy calendar I have been going by – I have officially started my 6th month! Crazy to think about but time really is flying by! It’s fun to see how different outfits highlight my growing bump but I think I have really popped a bit during this trip the past 2 weeks. I think its more noticeable to others and I am more aware of my belly being there than before!
How I’m feeling: Traveling during pregnancy isn’t easy {more on that in another post} but overall I have been feeling relatively good. I have been having some lower back/tailbone pain after walking a lot during the days & have been having papules starting to cover my chest/belly region – reached out to my doctor about them since I am away traveling – she thinks they could be caused from heat or something new I have been eating or just hormones, but will be checking them out at my visit next week.
Total weight gain: Up about 5 pounds from my last doctor’s appointment, will be updating monthly after each visit.
How big is baby? The biggest milestone for this week {via my pregnancy apps} is that Baby Brinks is now 1 whole pound! Wow! Crazy to think how much he has grown in 22 short weeks. This week he is measuring in about the size of a spaghetti squash – almost 11 inches long.
Maternity clothes: I have to do a post on my favorite maternity clothes because I have been living in them the past few weeks and they are just so much fun to wear because they are comfortable and highlight my bump – what’s not to love about that? I really love this new tunic dress {shown below} I picked up before my trip – it’s been great to wear & will be perfect going into the Fall, might need to pick up another one or two like it!
Sleep: There is only 1 hour time difference between Philadelphia & Santiago but the hour has been falling asleep at the dinner table & waking up at the crack of dawn.
Best moment this week: We went to a rodeo for the Chilean holiday of Fiestas Patrias this week & I was walking along past some of the shops – wearing the outfit below – and a gentleman looked at me and in Spanish said “Es un niño” – {It’s a Boy!} It was really a cool moment, and yes I am aware the guy had a 50/50 shot of guessing right, but he was very matter of fact and it was just really special.
Movement: Baby Brinks has been moving all the time. It’s really awesome to feel and still surprises me every time I feel it. He has also started to move in a bit of a schedule – like in the morning and at night – when I am sitting in the same, angled position, I can usually get him to give a kick or a punch. It’s really great when I get a little 1-2 punch in two different areas of my belly. I can’t wait for my parents to feel him next week!
Food cravings: Eating healthy & how I normally eat has been a bit of a struggle to do while traveling – especially when I am not 100% comfortable with the language and all the menu’s are in Spanish. I have been trying to get in my fruits and veggies whenever possible but it hasn’t been as much as I would like – I can’t wait to get back to my regular eating next week!
Food aversions: Chicken & some fried foods – lots of the Chilean foods I’ve been trying {When in Rome…} have been fried – Empanadas, Churros, Sopaipillas … – and I am sort of at my fried foods max. Give me green monsters & smoothies & salads!
What I Miss: Not being so tired all the time. Pre-preggers I was able to walk around all day without a second thought. Now a long day out and about takes its toll & I am ready for bed around 8pm!
What I’m looking forward to: NESTING! I can’t wait to get home & start working on the nursery. It’s been a busy few weeks since we found out we are having a boy & I can’t wait to pick out furniture & bedding & go register! Any favorite online baby shopping stores I should check out?
Milestone: Nothing to crazy to report this week – just excited that baby is now 1 pound, we are entering the 6th month & I have been feeling good! Grow baby grow!

Bump is looking super cute 🙂 so glad you were able to get away. I know i swear maternity clothes are the best thing going specially in the fall!
Wow, I can’t believe you’re six months pregnant already! As for baby shopping, I suggest Zulily if you haven’t already checked it out. I got addicted to it while I was pregnant, and still am. The only drawback is that the stuff you buy usually takes a while to arrive, so plan accordingly and don’t expect anything to show up on your doorstep the next day.
Six Months – it’s hard to believe, but Baby Brinks is looking good! You really have popped since I saw you last month! Can’t wait to feel him do a kick/punch nect week.
New reader here! When I saw you in that dress via Instragram, I had to look it up (it looked familiar). Totally adorable dress and now I will be ordering one for myself. I’ve been living in dresses in my pregnancy, especially when pants were not comfortable. A little behind you (16 weeks) but have been on the hunt for comfty, cute items.
