South America Bound

Today I wanted to share with you our travel plans that are in the works – in a month we are heading to South America to visit Charles’ brother in Chile! I’m so excited to cross off another item on my 30 before 30 list, travel to a new country and visit family! We leave in a month and I wanted to share with you some of our travel plans – check it out:

Chile

We leave in early September and are flying straight from the US to Santiago. But we aren’t leaving the airport once we land in South America as we are continuing our journey South and officially starting our trip in Valdivia, which is in the Chilean Lake District. From there we will be spending about a week in Huilo Huilo – we are traveling with Charles’ family and will be renting a cabin there which will have access to hiking, canopying and more – it’s supposed to be a really beautiful place and I can’t wait to see it!

After our time in Valdivia we will be heading back to Santiago to spend another week, we are excited to explore the city as it’s our first time there! Charles’ brother, Robert, lives and works there full time so it’s going to be really great to spend some time with him and have him show us the ropes! During the time we will be in Santiago, there will be a national holiday – Fiestas Patrias –  which celebrates the establishment of the First Government Junta in 1810. Apparently it’s supposed to be a really fun time to visit the city, with lots of festivals and events going on so we are excited to join in on the celebration.

It’s going to be a really great trip – I can’t believe we leave in 4 weeks! I will be 21-23 weeks pregnant during the time we will be traveling so it’s going to be a different experience for me, but I am really looking forward to it! Baby’s first trip abroad! I can’t wait to share our travels with you as the blog will still be going strong – stay tuned in early September for our South American journey!

Wow, looks like it should be quite an exciting trip! My former co-worker actually studied abroad in Chile and she absolutely loved it! I hope you have a wonderful time! The places I’d like to see are Paris, London, all of Italy, Greece, and eventually, every U.S. state!

Yes, I have been to Chile, on a South American cruise, which took us up the Eastern side of Chile after we went down the Western side of Argentina and around Cape Horn. Our tour ended in Santiago, which was a beautiful city. You will have an awesome time. Document your travels for Baby Brinkley – he will be impressed someday!
