3 Day Juice Cleanse Recap

cleanse on

My 3 day juice cleanse has come to an end and let me just tell you – I feel GREAT!

I seriously feel like a new woman – I have tons of energy and everything that I have put into my body the past 3 days has just made me that much more feel amazing. It wasn’t the easiest thing I have ever done, but it was a great experience overall. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is feeling a little blah & needing a little jumpstart in their diet.

*************************************************

Juices Drank: 18 – drank ’em all! I was able to make almost all of the 18 juices fresh, with the exception of a few that I made & took with me throughout the day. The easiest to make & go is the Spicy Lemonade, since it’s only 3 ingredients.

Favorite Juice: Cashew Milk. OMG, I am obsessed with this drink. It totally calms my sweet tooth craving at the end of the night, and it tastes amazing. I would count down all the other juices during the day because I was so excited to have the cashew milk every single night. Seriously, stop whatever it is you are doing & go make this now.

Least Favorite Juice: Beet Juice. It was never as bad as I built it up in my head, but I just don’t love beets. I think they smell like dirt. So I had to psych myself up for the first sip – but it really just tastes like citrus after the lemon & lime is added to the juice. Just not my favorite juice.

Pounds Lost: 3 lbs. Not too shabby after 3 days – I realize a chunk of the weight lost is likely water weight, even though I’m sure its possible to gain weight, since I drank SO MUCH liquid every day. I seriously thought I was going to float away! But today I am not bloated & I feel skinny. It’s a wonderful feeling.

First Thing I Ate Today, Post Cleanse: Strawberries. Felt weird to be chewing them at first! I only had a few because I want to slowly bring actual food back into my diet – I don’t want to overwhelm my digestive system. I plan to eat only fruits, vegetables & lean protein today {with maybe a juice, on the side!}

Was I Ever Hungry? For me, the first day was the hardest. I was a bit sluggish, light-headed & hungry at times. I also believed I had my first juice too late in the morning, so it kind of threw off the rest of the day, because I had to have a few of the juices, almost back to back. It was a little much. But the second & third days were great – I was on a schedule, never hungry and it worked out perfectly.

Did I Workout? Yes, I made sure I got in {at least} 30 minutes of cardio each day during the cleanse

Any Food Cravings? I have to admit, I wanted whatever food I saw. It wasn’t because I was hungry, I believe it was just because I knew I couldn’t have it. Charles’ dinners looked so good every night. All the amazing sweet treats in my google reader were taunting me. But I just sipped my juice & went along with my day.

Sleep Patterns? Let me just tell you, I had the absolute BEST sleep the past 3 nights. It was seriously amazing. I would do another cleanse like this just to get the great sleep I did.

Any Leftovers? I actually ended up buying 2 extra bags of spinach and  the 2nd bag of carrots (yes, the 5 lb. one!) went untouched. So without those items purchased ($5.00 & $3.99, respectively) – It would have saved an extra $8.99 – bringing the budget down to $80.10 – meaning I actually spent $26.70/day $4.45/drink. Everything else purchased with the Cleanse Grocery List was perfect – used all the apples, celery, kale, cucumbers, beets, parsley, ginger, limes perfectly. I still have a few lemons left over, but they will clearly get used no problem. I also have extra cashews, agave, vanilla & cayenne. I see more cashew milk & spicy lemonade juice in my immediate future!

*************************************************

I really believe this cleanse has changed my eating habits – It has definitely curved my sweet tooth & I just feel so fabulous right now. I am much more committed to fruits & vegetables than I was last week for sure. Sometimes, we all need a little reminder how much of an impact the fruits & veggies have on us.  Completing this 3 day juice cleanse was a great physical & mental challenge for me – I would most definitely do it again & potentially even extend it to 5 days! I had so much fun sharing the juice recipes & the cost of it all with everyone, I hope you enjoyed reading about it.

If you have any other questions for me – please don’t hesitate to ask!

I would love to do a cleanse like this but for someone who works from 8-5 the prep work seems intimidating as opposed to someone who works from home and can make them fresh ….suggestions?

JL – You can totally make all the juices from home in the morning and take them with you. It’s easy to make them quickly all at the same time & take them with you for the day. Mason jars are best to use to keep them fresh, in my opinion. Let me know if you need more help!

Sounds so great! I would love to DIY a cleanse… but since I don’t have a juicer, I prob won’t be doing one anytime soon. These are helpful posts to keep on hand for the future though!

OMG! I’ve been lost just roaming around your site. I was recommended to your cleanse post by Kat at CakesAzucar, and I so want to try this! I just got a Breville juicer today from Craigslist. And now I’ve discovered LikeTwice too!!! I feel so…. informed! I’m going to mention your cleanse and LikeTwice on my next blog post!

Hey Katie – Thanks so much for the nice note, glad you are finding some good stuff here! Let me know what you think of the juice cleanse – I’m adding another recipe this week! 🙂

Thank you so much for these recipe’s! I am in the middle of the BluePrint Cleanse (3-day) and I was searching for a more economic way to do it next time. Thanks for doing all the ground work with the recipes! Much appreciated!!! I agree with making your own juice will be beneficial, having the veggies/fruits even fresher than BPC. I also feel like there is a “refrigerator” taste to some of their juices which grosses me out – but maybe that is just me. Thanks again!

Katie- thank you for posting about your 3-day cleanse and being so informative about it! I’ve decided I will finally attempt this 3 day cleanse next week and Im super excited to hopefully get some great sleep as well! I did have a question for you. I do not have a juicer unfortunetly I cannot afford to buy one at this time. I do have a Magic bullet which is like a mini smoothie/shake maker and a regular blender. Any tips on how to juice without a juicier?
    Thanks!

Valerie – I think your best bet without a juicer could be using the bullet and potentially straining out the pulp, to make it more juice-like. Let me know if you have any other questions.
      Thanks for reading – Leslie

I’ve been searching for a juice cleanse blog and this is absolutely perfect for my first cleanse! What size mason jars do you use for your juices?

    • Reply Leslie May 14, 2013 at 10:57 am

Hi Mimi – I use size 32 oz size. It makes a lot of juice, so if I don’t finish it all in one sitting, it stays fresh for a snack later on! Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hi –
a co worker offered to let me borrow their old juicer, so I am really contemplating doing this next week – I have a couple of questions –
    – Do you have a pressing juicer or a centrifugal and do you think it matters?
    – I work out pretty hard every day during the week, I see you still did 30 min of cardio per day. Did you feel like you were lacking in energy? Did you do workouts that were different from a typical workout? I’m not sure I could do a 45 min boot camp type class on only juice!!

    • Reply Leslie January 3, 2014 at 11:14 am

      Hey Lauri,
I have the Breville Compact & its a centrifugal – I love it. I also have a VitaMix but it doesn’t make juice so much as it makes a killer soup/smoothie.
I was able to workout on just juice – I typically drank the juice 20 minutes before a workout and it gave me a little kick, but I listened to my body & modified when needed.

Let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck!
