This past weekend my parents took me out to their favorite Irish Pub in Northern Virginia.
The Auld Shebeen.
Being that it was an Irish Pub and being that my family has Irish roots (maiden name, McDermott!), my dad and I started out the evening with a Guinness.
Yum.
The Auld Shebeen is amazing. They host incredible live music every Friday & Saturday evenings. The tunes were top notch, I really enjoyed the Irish songs they played. It was awesome.
Our meal started off with the Irish sausage rolls – Homemade, lightly spiced pork sausage rolled in a puff pastry and served with spicy honey mustard sauce. They were very tasty.
Next up was the main event – my dad & brother have talked about this meal for months!
I enjoyed the St. James Gate Guinness Beef Stew – Slow-cooked Guinness marinated Angus beef, carrots and onions in a rich brown sauce served over mashed potatoes. This meal was incredible, I was only able to eat part of it, took the rest home for Charles like a good little wife. He was overjoyed with the leftovers!
After an amazingly filling appetizer & entree, my mom & brother enjoyed the Shebeen Milk Chocolate Cream Pie- Milk chocolate mousse and delicate chocolate cookie crumb accompanied with caramel and chocolate sauce topped with whipped cream.
My dad & I enjoyed another sort of dessert – Irish Whiskey.
When in Rome, right?
If you are ever in the Fairfax area of Northern Virginia, especially on a Friday or Saturday night, I highly recommend you checking out The Auld Shebeen for dinner or drinks!

Love that spot – glad you were able to enjoy it with us!
I’ve totally been here!!! My brother lives in Fairfax, and we went there once when we visited him. I remember it being pretty good!
Hmm, that must be near my parents too, but I’ve never heard of it! Where exactly is it located?
