A Fresh Start

Today, Fiancé and I started off the week a little differently…

We went to the gym! Fiancé and I both decided we would like to try going to the gym in the morning, together. It is a nice way to start the day together and it also holds us both accountable.

Sometimes when I work from home I find the day slipping away and me putting off going to the gym. Does that happen to anybody else? This way I get it over with first thing in the morning. It really is a fantastic way to start my day and my week off right.

We did a little elliptical action for about 20 minutes, then weights for another 20 minutes followed by me running a speedy mile.

Fiancé had to get ready for work so I came back to the apartment with him and did some of my wedding workout (which I will have to share with you in a separate post because it’s awesome) with the free weights.

It’s only 8:30 am and I feel so accomplished already!

Do you prefer to workout in the morning or evening? What works best for you and your schedule?

After my workout I had worked up quite an appetite so I made a lovely batch of banana slicer oats with chia seeds and peanut butter mixed in, topped with blueberries.

When do I have to take down my Reindeer placemat? I don’t want to because I love them, but maybe replacing them with some pretty Valentine’s Day placemats will ease the pain.

Anyone seen any cute V-Day placemats?

I am enjoying my oats with a side of Get Happy tea from the Republic of Tea. I love this stuff. I love it almost as much as I love my Chicago mug, which every time I drink out of it, I am reminded of my first marathon!

In other news I registered for the Broad Street Run, a 10 mile race, which is being held on Sunday, May, 1, 2011 – a mere 20 days before my wedding! I am also running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler a month before that on April 3rd.

I figure two 10 miler races are good distances to train for and run before the wedding. Not too much of a crazy time commitment, like a marathon, but just enough to keep me busy, entertained and provide me with somewhere to channel all that crazy energy I will be feeling 2 months before the big day.

Are you running the Broad Street Run or the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler? What is your racing schedule looking like for the Spring?

Are you doing the wedding workout from the womans big book of exercises? I love that book! I'm doing that workout too 🙂

I prefer to workout in the morning. It allows me to have the rest of the day to get stuff done!! Sometimes I do take a spin class at night just cause I love spin 🙂 but i hate working out at night.

    Xoxo

My friends and I are running the Cherry Blossom. Have you run it before? Anything to watch out for?

I definitely prefer getting my workout done first thing in the morning. I don't think I could get my boyfriend to join me though! Good for you guys!

I love morning workouts. That just wasn't happening last semester and it really derailed my exercise routing, but now the hubs and I are hitting the gym in the morning too! And I'm loving it!

I'm running broad street, I'm glad your doing it too! I am doing 2 5K's at the end of feb and early march, then broad street, and maybe a few more little races this spring. I can't commit to too many 5K's because I work every other Sunday, and lots of races are on Sundays.

The Cherry Blossom 10 miler looks awesome, but I don't think I'd be trained enough to run it by this April. Maybe next year!

I'm all about morning workouts! It's sooo hard getting out of bed. But I love that great feeling of being done with my workout as I head to the shower – the time I would normally have to get up. Plus, having extra energy & a good mood during the day helps too!

Boy, I am very impressed, especially with Fiance's commitment to exercise in the morning. I guess he is getting ready for the big day too! I love to exercise mid afternoon, it seems to give me more energy to survive the rest of the day. I love to take my zumba classes at night because it's a great way to destress from the day and then collapse right before bed.
