Start Assignment:
CORRAL D
I was lucky enough to receive an amazing start assignment in Corral D based on my performance in the NYC Half Marathon this past March where I PR’d! To get into Corral D each runner has to have a sub 1:50 half marathon time, which I do!
For the start, the elite runners start first, then Corrals A – D. The lettered start corrals are seeded placements of 12,000 runners based on their recent half and full marathon times.
Behind the lettered corrals is an Open Start which is 33,000 runners in no particular order. I am excited to have earned a place in the front in one of the lettered corrals because I think this will mean an easier, possibly faster start. I am thinking there will be less walkers here and possibly less bobbing and weaving, which happens in so many races of this size, which ends up adding additional mileage to the race, and I don’t want to run more than 26.2 if I don’t have to!
I had a good 9 miler this morning, my last long run before next weekend, and it was an emotional one, but it felt good. I am just excited to get to Chicago! I leave early Thursday morning and it can’t come fast enough!

Here is a high speed video of the Chicago Marathon course. It makes 26.2 miles seem really long, but the course looks fun! I am hoping the crowds are going nuts and any rain holds off until the afternoon!
