Birthday Breakfast – Trolley Car Cafe

Today was one of the most beautiful Fall mornings. The colorful leaves are all making their way from the tree tops to the ground. I love the sound of the leaves crunching under my boots!

Jackson enjoys frolicking through the leaves too!

Since it was so beautiful out this morning, fiancé and I decided to head out for breakfast.

Along the way we enjoyed some lovely Fall foliage.

Tomorrow is fiancé’s birthday and breakfast is his favorite meal, so I decided to take him out to celebrate his birthday this morning.

Fiancé, Jackson and I headed on over to the Trolley Car Cafe – which is in East Falls, right off of Kelly Drive.

The Trolley Car Cafe was recently constructed from a little brick building (known as The Bathey) that sat forgotten about for 40 years in Fairmount Park. It was turned into a cafe from an old bath house!

The cafe also boasts that fact that it is eco-friendly – Green features of the café include passive solar lighting and a solar-powered water-heating system that handles 70 percent of the restaurant’s hot-water needs; they’ve also got a “kitchen garden” growing vegetables and herbs used in food prep

I very much enjoyed the decor in that many of the original feature of the bath house were restored and used. The doors and arch ways were particularly beautiful to me!

The inside of the cafe is decorated with pictures from the original bath house as well. I love that the history of the building is kept alive.

The Trolley Car Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Fiancé and I decided to enjoy the lovely weather outside with Jackson and sit in the outdoor patio in the back of the cafe.

There are lots of choices for breakfast, everything is a la carte.

Fiancé also enjoyed a cup of Joe while we waited for our meal.

For his birthday meal he enjoyed the Monte Cristo – Cherrywood Ham, Turkey, Fried Egg & Jarlsberg on a French Toast Bagel

Wow, I might have to try that place too! Is that within walking distance of your place? Great find and I love the green aspect of the place! What a nice surprise for Finance the day before his actual birthday!
