We Got Earl’d

A little ol’ hurricane doesn’t stop anyone from going to the beach in my neck of the woods!

I love how the restaurants and bars were using the hurricane as an excuse to come inside and drink! Seriously, like anyone needs an excuse to booze on vacation!

Fiancé and I decided to head South from where we were staying in Bethany Beach out to the Rehoboth Beach area to check out the DogFish Head Brewery there.

I love a good brewery tour! Two of my favorite ones include the Sam Adams Brewery Tour in Boston and the Philadelphia Brewing Company Tour. I love me some free beer samples!

We had plans to go visit the actual DogFish Head brewery and bottling plant on a tour in Milton, Delaware but found out all the tickets were sold out for the weekend! Boo!

We had to make due by settling on visiting the DogFish Head restaurant and bar instead. I heard they had a few different sample platter options and I was all set!

We sampled 10 different beers from the extensive list of choices on the menu! It was hard to choose which ones we wanted to try.

We had some eats while we were there too. I enjoyed the crab and corn chowder & fried pickles (random craving but they were good!)

And of course our delicious brews!

Fiancé got a burger! Nom Nom Nom!

They also had a distillery there, making vodka, rhum (weird spelling, right?)  and gin. I wanted to try some, but we ran out of time. Next time I am coming after you Mixed Drinks!

It was so fun to chill out with a lovely beer inside while the hurricane was a blowing outside!

After finishing our brews we decided to brave the weather and check out the beach for ourselves.

The waves were pretty big, much bigger than usual for this area and the tides that were coming in were really strong.

I was standing ankle deep in the water, which was lovely and quite warm, when waves would come out of nowhere and just soak me!

I definitely got Earl’d!

Fiancé and I weren’t planning on getting wet but we did! It was fun to frolick around in the water while it was raining.

So that was some of our fun yesterday but today is beautiful out with no sign of any bad weather in sight for the rest of the weekend (fingers crossed!)

Did you get Earl’d? What are some of your plans for the long weekend?

Yay for Rehoboth, my little beach town 🙂 I'm about 20 minutes from Rehoboth and got nothing besides a sprinkle of rain here and there.

Dogfish has some great brew, don't they?!

I heart Rehoboth! I have family that lives there, and we were thinking of going there tomorrow! We used to make Rehobeth visits a few times a year. Make sure you eat Grotto Pizza and check out the outlets there. They are the best outlets ever! (no sales tax!!)

No Earl for us (of course, we are not anywhere near the East coast). LOL. At least it looks like you found a great way to escape the storm. 🙂

Love Rehoboth. My family used to go there every summer when I was a kid.

We have a Dogfish Restaurant right in our backyard in Fairfax, Virginia. We need to tour that brewery sometime, maybe we can do it together with the boys!
