Gaga Oh LaLa – Lady Gaga in Philly 2010

Last night was an evening I had been waiting to come for a long time.

A few of my girlfriends and I went to the Lady Gaga concert in Philly.

We were armed with an official Gaga wig to get the party started.

IMG_8566IMG_8557

Jill, Kate, Jacqui and I all had some fun with the wig. We even got the bartender to put it on too!

We all met up and headed to Marathon Grill in Philly to enjoy some Happy Hour half priced appetizers before the show.

IMG_8559

About an hour before the show we headed down to the Wells Fargo Center to check out the Gaga Block Party.

IMG_8568

I enjoyed a beer and a water.

IMG_8569

Jill, Jacqui, Kate and I were pumped for Lady Gaga.

IMG_8572

Kate and I purchased matching t-shirts.

IMG_8579

We were armed with our monster paws for the show!

IMG_8578

I wore my sparkly converse shoes to the event. I figured they were festive and perfect for the occasion!

 IMG_8580IMG_8582

We started off way in the nosebleed section – pretty far away from the action and with a blocked view. We were unable to see any of the screens which showed what was going on in the show close up.

IMG_8588

When I said we were in the nosebleeds – I meant it. We were at the very top, with the wall behind us.

IMG_8595

I was a little disappointed because these were $100 seats and we were at the wall at the top of the top of the show?!

IMG_8591IMG_8593

We had some fun playing with the wall but when the show started it was difficult to see.

IMG_8597IMG_8598

I had some major zoom action in my camera to see the stage.

IMG_8604 IMG_8605IMG_8608

Gaga was amazing. She came out with a bang and was awesome to watch the entire night. In true Lady Gaga form, you didn’t know what she was going to do next.

IMG_8617

To me the show was mirrored after the Wizard of Oz. Lady Gaga spent the entire show trying to get to the ‘Monster Ball in Philadelphia.’ In the opening number her car broke down and then she was shown the yellow brick road to get to the Ball.

IMG_8618 IMG_8619 IMG_8623IMG_8627

Crazy costumes were all over the place throughout the show.

IMG_8633IMG_8612IMG_8637

IMG_8645

The show was crazy high energy with lots of different set changes.

IMG_8666IMG_8667

A few songs in Jacqui and I went to see if we could get a closer look at the action. I wanted to get some better pictures for the blog and we ended up heading a few sections down and finding two great seats.

IMG_8745IMG_8765

We had a much better angle and were able to see the screens!

IMG_8744 IMG_8672

It was pretty cool when the piano was on fire – This was one of my favorite parts of the show.

IMG_8676IMG_8679

It was even cooler when someone threw a Phillies hat on stage and Gaga wore it for a few songs.

IMG_8684IMG_8680IMG_8685

IMG_8693

Doesn’t the white outfit make Gaga look like Glinda the Good Witch?

IMG_8696 IMG_8698 IMG_8701IMG_8704

I also enjoyed when Gaga sang “Monster” and came out in a monster suit. She looked a little nuts but it was fun to watch!

IMG_8706 IMG_8707IMG_8709

Weren’t our new seats so much better? I was able to take these pictures from the big screens! Yay!

IMG_8728

At this point in the show things got a little weird for me.  Gaga was rolling around in fake blood which I didn’t get.

IMG_8729 IMG_8731 IMG_8733  IMG_8735

I also didn’t get it when she was in the fountain of some saint/angel and apparently they were draining its blood when it caught on fire?

I feel like some of these things went over my head. I was just there to enjoy the music!

IMG_8739

Then a big monster came out and we had to kill it by flashing our camera lights at it.

IMG_8754

Doesn’t this look like Wizard of Oz? Maybe its just because she’s in a green outfit and maybe looked like either Elphaba or a munchkin. I can’t decide!

IMG_8751IMG_8756

It was an interesting show to say the least!

 IMG_8767

The final number was ‘Bad Romance’ which was a great way to end the show, which climaxed when Lady Gaga made it to the Monster Ball!

IMG_8770  IMG_8773

I really enjoyed the fact that Lady Gaga sang live the entire time. She did a great job interacting with her audience and the show was high energy the whole time.

IMG_8785

I was surprised a few times when Lady Gaga would yell out some hardcore curse words. At one point she told the guys in the audience to “Whip It Out”. There were also lots of religious references which I didn’t full understand, but I had a great time at the show.

The songs were awesome and it was cool to see Gaga perform. She did an amazing job.

One thing I learned from the concert was that when making plans to go see concerts in the future, I need to remember that if its an artist I am really excited about, I should just shell out the extra cash to get a better seat.

I could have gone without getting a shirt there and maybe a few overpriced drinks pre-show and used that cash to double my ticket price and get closer to the action. Because when it comes to going to a concert, you want to be close to the action, right?

I am not sure I would have paid $200 for Gaga tickets, but its just something to think about.

Either way I had so much fun being a Little Monster for the evening!

Lady Gaga was a fabulous concert and I am glad I went but nothing will compare to my all time favorite concert experience which I also refer to as – The Best Night of My Life which you can check out here:  Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4

What’s the best concert you have ever been to?

Are you a Lady Gaga fan?

LOVE Lady Gaga, but I haven't seen her live. When I saw Kylie Minogue live in Oakland, I was in the last row of the entire place! 😛 But I don't think it was as big as yours, and my tickets weren't $100… about half. Still a lot!

Wow, what a show! I know someone who just saw Lady Gaga in Washington, DC. She dressed up a whole lot in black and pink net, dress, etc. Glad you girls had fun but you seriously needed better seats!

I really enjoy a lot of her songs, but I'm not a "fan" per say. Best concert? That's a hard question! I have been to so many it's hard to pick, but I would say b-52s just because it was the first one I ever went to. 🙂

Whenever we go to concerts, if we are not happy with the seats…we just go to customer service and get an upgrade. Even though they say the shows are sold out, they usually aren't and they have extra tickets for upgrades! I have done that a few times at concerts, and the last time they moved our seats for free!

I’m surprised you didn’t all collapse from oxygen deprivation.
