Today fiancé had a fun filled day at part of our Pre-Cana weekend workshop for our wedding. The Pre-Cana course that we participated in is a weekend long workshop which is split into 4 sections: Communication, Finances, Sexuality and Spirituality.
I didn’t know what to expect this weekend, but I was excited to go!
I know our wedding is still over a year away, but it was nice to go for a day and focus on our relationship and discuss some aspects of marriage after the wedding.
This Pre – Cana was held at this beautiful conference center in Bryn Mawr, PA. It’s an old mansion which now houses nuns and also serves as a place for meetings and various events.
I was expecting our course to be with maybe 6 other couples or so, with everyone sitting in a circle, possibly talking about our feelings.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
This Pre-Cana had between 75-80 people there. It was packed! I took the below pictures during a break when half the people were up walking around, but during the sessions, all those seats were full!
About half of these people are getting married in the Villanova Church, like we are, and the other half will be married elsewhere, but by Villanova priests.
Today we took a Myers Briggs test, which was very fun and interesting and we also heard from various couples from the church. It was really nice to hear some of the stories that the couples shared with us, I enjoyed it.
After each section of the day, we filled out some questions and wrote down how we felt about certain things and then met with our fiancé to talk about our thoughts. Fiancé and I sat outside and had some nice chats about various things.
It was a beautiful day.
In other news I wore pretty shoes to the workshop. These are one of my favorite pairs. Cute, right?
….do you see how easily distracted I am??
It was really nice to sit back and spend some time focusing on our relationship. Without all the craziness and running around we normally do on the weekends, it was a nice change of pace.
After 5 hours at the workshop, we had worked up quite an appetite. We decided to hang out the Villanova-Main Line area for dinner. Back in November, fiancé and I went to where we had our first date (only 4 years later!), so today we decided to switch it up a bit, so we headed over to Gullifty’s!
This place has a great eating area and bar. Its a fun place!
First we ordered beers. I had a Bell’s Two Hearted Ale because I liked the name. It came in this pretty glass.
I love this quote from Philly local, Ben Franklin. It was in the menu.
A beautiful beer after a beautiful day.
Cheers to our first pre-cana day!
For dinner I had salmon on ciabatta bread with a side of sweet potato fries. I have a serious weakness for sweet potato fries, as you all know. I could eat them all day every day!
The sandwich had about half an onion in it (which was random and weird, I took it out) as well as some cucumbers. It was good.
After dinner we headed back out for more wedding fun!
Stay tuned for more details!

I have those shoes! I don't wear them enough, but I love them.
We used to love Gullifty's and went there almost once a week in the summer. Their outdoor deck is fabulous! How I miss it. Where'd you get those great shoes?
What a fun and productive day! Isn't it nice to focus on the couple – that's how it all started. I have those shoes too! You're making me hungry…
A. Friggin adorable shoes.
B. I am so jealous of your Pre Cana. Words cannot express the horror that we suffered. I can't even repeat what happened – it still gives me chills.
I'll be getting married next year by a Villanova priest, so I'll have to attend their pre cana. Can you give me any more specific details about what to expect? Thanks so much!
