Yesterday I was tweeting up a storm about this massive package that got delivered to our apartment the other day. Fiancé and I recently registered for some wedding/engagement presents a month or so ago because my parents are throwing us an Engagement Party in Virginia in 2 weeks. We registered at Crate and Barrel and Macy’s.
Yesterday I got the call that I had a package downstairs. I went down to get it and it was this MASSIVE Crate and Barrel box. I knew it was a present off our registry, but I didn’t know what exactly it could be.
I was tweeting with a bunch of twitter friends with a big dilemma –
To Open or Not To Open?
I was like a kid on Christmas. I wanted to open the big pretty white box ASAP, but I also didn’t know if I should wait for fiancé to get home so we could open it together. It was very funny to see everyone’s responses, but it was pretty straight down the middle in terms of people’s opinions. Half told me to go for it, and half said to be a good bride-to-be and wait.
I ended up calling fiancé at work to see if he cared if I opened it.
He asked me to wait….
I don’t really think he cared about the present at all, I think he just wanted to make me wait as an exercise in my patience (I currently have none), and so reluctantly I did.
I waited and waited….
I am pretty sure you can tell that Jackson was on my side on this one. He totally wanted to rip into the box and see what was inside, he gets easily excited about things like this, just like me. He was sad when I told him we had to wait for Daddy.
Did you wait for your fiancé to open presents? I really would love to know how other couples handle this!
Well that was yesterday, and then today another present came! Isn’t it so pretty. I heart Crate and Barrel.

We received that 2 tier server as a Wedding Gift – I LOVE it!
We didn't have an engagement party, so no E-gifts (don't really "get" it to be honest),
but my fav gift was the 5Q Le Creuset Dutch Oven.
My husband always wanted me to wait as well. I think he didn't care as much about the gift itself, as he did seeing me get excited about an aspect of our wedding. It was always fun to open them together!
I never would have been able to resist opening the presents, but I don't think my bf would either.
how fun. we dont have an engagement party and i have yet to register. im so lame.
We didn't have an engagement party and we didn't really get any engagement presents. But things are starting to go from the registry because my shower will be soon. Love presents though!

I think you should wait for fiance and share in the fun together. it's too bad that all the stuff you receive is usually for the house and the bride. Maybe people should have parties and request to receive guy things, like tools, etc. Love your first two gifts!
