Only The Essentials

Bananas. Just bananas.  The bananas are part of my new goal I am setting for myself for the next month. I am going to challenge myself to eat only out of my pantry with the exception of a few necessary essentials from now until min January. pics 096

After my savings post yesterday, I started to think of different ways in which I could cut back and put a few extra pennies in my savings account (and in my pocket for holiday presents!) I realized that my pantry is PACKED. Literally busting at the seams. I am lucky enough with this blog that I get set lots of fun stuff to try out all the time, and I also just have lots of stuff packed into my pantry.

I want to try to get more creative with my meals for the next month and really try to find ways to use what I already have. I catch myself now making unnecessary trips to the supermarket when I have tons of good stuff already at home.

So things should get interesting for the next month. If anyone cares to join me in this little challenge, let me know!  Stay tuned for some interesting eats!

I got a fun package in the mail today. I had a little online fun during cyber Monday and treated myself to a new brown bag! I didn’t have a brown everyday bag in my wardrobe, and totally needed one, so here she is!

Don’t you just love how I posted above about saving money and cutting back and now here we are with a splurge purchase?? Good thing I can rationalize any purchase! I totally NEEDED this bag AND I bought it before I thought of my little challenge. Work for you? It works for me! Horray!

Anywho, back to the bag – I got it from baghaus which offered a nice little cyber Monday deal, complete with free shipping (and free returns). I am not an online shopper. I like being able to touch and feel and see something before I hand over my credit card. I will also really NEVER make an online purchase without free shipping. I am hardcore like that.

Here is my bag online. It was really on sale last week and now its back up again. I totally win! I LOVE IT! So happy with my purchase. I love the size of the bag, I love the color and I love the style.  Love, Love, Love! Yay! What do you think?

In other news I am feeling good about my finals with school. I have got lots done this week already and I decided to take it easy tonight. I did a little work, did some cleaning in the apartment and now fiancé and I are going to throw up our feet and relax a bit together.

We are going to watch Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! It came out today and I am SO EXCITED! I am a big HP Fan!

The bag is gorgeous! Looks great on your shoulder too! Totally and absolutely worth it.

I'm totally up for joining you in the pantry challenge! Every week I tell myself I'm only going to buy produce, and then, I fail! It must stop!

I am doing the same thing with my pantry and it's all because of your link to mint! I was freaked out after I saw what I was spending money on.

    I *love* your bag!

I'd be up for the challenge but living in a small rowhome in the city, I don't really have a big pantry… and would probably die off of what it in my cabinets. 🙂

    Cute bag.

I really need to learn how to manage my money better. Especially since I'm getting married in June and trying to buy a house.

i love ING!! it's the way to go!!! i have saved so much money in there. you can also have it auto-deduct money from your checking like every 2 weeks.. i do $50 every 2 weeks and i hardly notice it is gone, but it really adds up.

    also– BUDGETSIMPLE.COM love this.

YOUR PANTRY IS SUPER STOCKEd! omygoodness. i think the challenge to eat from there is a good one. and i could not live without bananas so i am in total agreement with you there 🙂
