…in this new home. We are in a FABULOUS location. Our apartment is RIGHT along Kelly Drive, and if you are at all familiar with the Philadelphia area, you know that this is a major running/biking/walking path. It is right alongside the Schuylkill River, which has many gondola races and is also home to many beautiful bridges. Jackson totally deserved a nice, long walk after boyf and I spent the majority of our first two days there unpacking/organizing, so we took him out on Kelly Drive. I snapped a few pictures of some of the bridges on our walk. It was a beautiful day out, and an awesome weekend. Check it out:
I love all the old stone, which I am sure has been around FOREVER. It gives everything such a nice historic feel.
There was also a crew race going on. I had never seen one before, so it was nice to see while we walked along the river.
Up the hill on Kelly Drive is Laurel Hill Cemetery which is the second major rural cemetery in the United States. It is also one of the few cemeteries in the country designated as a National Historic Landmark. I thought it was really beautiful.
I totally want to walk through the cemetery. It appears to have so much history. Is that weird I want walk through it?
Here are my two Jersey boys walking along.
Some beautiful flowers along the way. I love the pop of purple.
This is the Strawberry Mansion Bridge. Kelly Drive is right alongside Fairmount Park, and there are so many cool things to see there. I can’t wait to run and bike and explore these cool new paths!
The two men in my life embracing the beautiful scenery":
Jackson hamming it up for the camera. I love the background for this picture. Jackson wouldn’t look straight at me, but I love the blue water in the background, and the little part of the bridge, and the green grass. Great pictures Jackson!
We walked about a mile and a half down Kelly Drive from our apartment and knew we had to walk back, and Jackson seemed to be struggling a bit, his little legs can’t take him too far, so this is where we stopped. The building in the distance is I believe the Mammal House at the Philadelphia Zoo!
Strawberry Mansion Bridge from afar. Seriously, could it have been a nicer day out? So gorgeous!
This is another snapshot from the cemetery. I love the angel tombstone with the clouds in the background.
I also enjoyed this graffiti on the ground:
So those we are few pictures from Jackson’s first walk down Kelly Drive. There was so much to see and take in. On Monday I did a 10 mile bike loop down Kelly Drive to Center City and back up the other side of the Schuylkill river and it was awesome. Today I did a little 4 miler run down to one of the bridges and back. I know I am going to love running along the river. It’s so awesome!
Hopefully I will be able to stop by another wi-fi location soon with more posts! I really hope I will get getting internet soon! It feels great to be back to blogging! Happy Hump Day!
