Yesterday was a little bit of a dreary rainy day, so boyf and I headed over to The National Air & Space Museum – The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. This place is a few miles from where I live, has been open since 2003 and I have never made it over there! Kind of sad if you ask me. What is sadder is that I have lived in Northern Va my whole life and haven’t been up the National Monument, but that’s another story which will be hopefully dealt with this Spring!
Anywho, boyf and I trekked over to the Udvar Hazy Center yesterday to check it out. Boyf loves this kind of stuff. Loves to read every single thing. And when I say that, I mean HE READS EVERY SINGLE THING. Most of the time, I think this is super cute, sometimes I get bored easily, but for the most part yesterday I was entertained. There is so much to look at in this huge airport and space hanger. There are thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited on the National Mall Air & Space Museum location, and its all at Udvar Hazy. Its all everything that was too big for the downtown location!
A quick little Starbucks run before our afternoon at the museum:
Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird- It flew from LA to DC in 1 hour and 4 minutes. SUPER fast! Its actually the fastest jet in the whole world.
The space shuttle Enterprise is the centerpiece of the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar
Rolex is a sponsor, and there are random Rolex clocks all over the place. I thought it was kind of weird, but whatever works!
Fun with space helmets in the gift shop!
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay
